Front Brents Community Dig 2025

The Faversham Society Archaeological Research Group together with the Creek Trust, Kent Archaeological Society (KAS) and Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA,) undertook a 9-day community archaeological investigation of the Front Brents.

The open land adjacent to The Albion Taverna, a 19th century pub, was formerly the site of tenement buildings along both Front Brents and Church Road. The community investigation ran throughout the Faversham Society’s Open Faversham Festival from Saturday 24th May – Sunday 1st June and sought to uncover the foundations of these properties and reveal evidence of the occupants who once called them home.

A full report of the excavation will be published in due course by the KAS, but here are some photographs giving a view of the excavation over the 9 days.
